Timberland supplied all the hoisting equipment for the world’s largest land-based heavy lift device at the Kiewit facility in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA. Its hoists, reel winders, hydraulic power units and control system are all synchronized to ensure that the booms remain evenly loaded over lengths of rope exceeding 10,000 ft. (3000 m) under strict safety guidelines. The system is an essential component in the final assembly of offshore oil and gas platforms. The success of the device reflects Timberland’s in-house expertise in PLC-based control systems for lifting systems.

6800-Ton Super Crane Ringer Derrick

8 x 75-Ton Traction Winches, 8 x Reel Winders, 4 x 950 hp HPU’s with synchronized control system; 32 x Slewing Trucks, 4 x Load Blocks, 2 x Tension Tie Tops

The world’s largest ringer derrick of this type, this project required two complete sets of equipment from Timberland for a pair of heavy-lift derricks. The derricks were used in the construction of two new nuclear power plants in the states of Georgia and South Carolina, USA. All hoists are synchronized through Timberland’s proprietary PLC program to maintain even loading of the boom structure.
