The Timberland Group is the new home of OK Champion underground maintenance equipment for electric power, sewer and communications systems.
The Timberland Group announced the purchase of some of the former assets and intellectual property of OK Champion on July 20, 2012. OK Champion of Hammond, Indiana, was a long time, well respected designer and manufacturer of underground cable handling equipment with a history dating back to 1897. OK Champion power rodders, cable scrappers and reel loaders will now be marketed through TSE International Inc. in the United States, and globally through Timberland Equipment Limited. Engineering and manufacturing will be completed at Timberland Equipment’s facility in Woodstock, Ontario.
On announcing this addition to the Timberland Group, President Mark Gabourie said, “The acquisition of these particular assets and intellectual property fits extremely well with the Timberland Group’s long-term strategy of adding complementary, highly engineered products in pulling and winching related equipment businesses. We are extremely excited to add these products to our portfolio as part of our plan to significantly grow our business over the next five years. The addition of these products is expected to provide us with some additional unique niche market products.”
